Andrew Stewart

Andrew Stewart is a Director with extensive experience in criminal law, bringing valuable expertise to his role. He was one of the founding Directors at Stewart Burr and Mayr, reflecting his leadership within the firm. Andrew’s legal career began with his admission as a solicitor in the United Kingdom in 1997. Early on, he was articled to a leading criminal lawyer in South Wales and progressed to become an Associate at a well-regarded Chambers 500 directory law firm. He subsequently served with the UK Public Defender Service, where he held leadership roles as Head of two offices in South Wales. The Public Defender Service focuses on criminal defence, particularly serious criminal matters, and representation in both Higher and Lower Courts across the UK. Andrew has significant experience advising clients under arrest at police stations and retains his admission in the United Kingdom. Since gaining admission in Australia, Andrew has practised primarily in North Brisbane and the wider Brisbane area, appearing in Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts. He continues to serve as a Duty Lawyer in North Brisbane Courts, maintaining a strong presence in the local community. His criminal law experience includes Magistrates Court advocacy as well as handling complex matters such as fraud, sexual offences, assaults and other serious crimes in the District and Supreme Courts of Queensland.
