Justin Yong

Justin Yong is a Special Counsel with extensive experience in commercial law, particularly in banking, finance, funds, and derivatives. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2006 and holds an unrestricted practising certificate in Victoria. Justin’s career began in the financial services sector shortly after admission, where he worked as in-house legal counsel for the Bank of China’s Sydney Branch. His professional experience spans significant institutions and transactions across Sydney, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Upon his return to Australia, Justin held positions as special counsel with various legal service providers before joining Forty Four Degrees Lawyers and Consultants. Justin’s expertise covers regulatory and operational compliance, equity and debt capital markets, anti-money laundering, insolvency, Foreign Investment Review Board matters, procurement, and privacy law. He has advised on numerous regulatory audits and successfully represented clients in Australian courts, tribunals, and proceedings, notably in financial, building, and residential tenancy matters. In addition to his legal qualifications, Justin is a Chartered Accountant and contributes to the community through his role on the board of Whitehorse Churches Care. Outside of work, he enjoys running as a way to explore new areas and has a passion for culinary experiences.
