About Diane

Diane Ruhl, the Founding Principal and Director of Ruhl Family Law Centre, established the firm in June 2016 with a focus on delivering client-centred and effective family law services. Growing up in Mackay and pursuing her studies in Brisbane before transferring to James Cook University in Townsville, Diane's journey reflects her commitment to her roots in the tropical north. Starting her career as an Associate to His Honour Judge Cullinane at the Supreme Court, Diane has since built a distinguished reputation in the Townsville community. Her approach to family law is characterised by a client-focused, pragmatic style that aims to achieve outstanding outcomes. Her dedication to family law led to the founding of Ruhl Family Law Centre, driven by her passion for providing compassionate and efficient legal services. Diane's role as an Independent Children's Lawyer further highlights her commitment to ensuring the welfare and best interests of children in various legal matters. Diane is also recognised for her advanced training in Collaborative Law, which aids in facilitating smooth negotiations in parenting and property matters. This approach reflects her interest in resolving disputes in a respectful and amicable manner. Beyond her legal career, Diane invests her personal time in training for triathlons and marathons, with notable achievements such as completing the Kokoda Track and the New York Marathon. Her professional accolades include several awards and recognitions, notably from the Doyle's Guide and the Women’s Lawyers Association of Queensland. Diane's qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, with admissions to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Her extensive teaching experience at James Cook University spans over a decade, enriching her contributions to legal education in family law.
