About Vivian
Dr Vivian Waller, Principal Solicitor and Managing Partner of Waller Legal, has been a steadfast advocate for survivors of sexual assault since beginning her legal career in 1995. With over 25 years of experience, Dr Waller has made significant contributions to the representation of survivors of institutional child sexual abuse, engaging in pivotal litigation in both the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. Her expertise was vital during the Royal Commission into the Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, where she effectively represented 20 survivor witnesses across various case studies, including the Melbourne Response and the Criminal Justice System. Dr Waller has also been a key figure in drafting submissions for the Royal Commission and has provided insight before the Senate Committee regarding the National Redress Scheme. Her commitment to pro bono work is highlighted by her representation of the complainant during the criminal prosecution and appeals process concerning allegations against Cardinal George Pell. Holding a Doctorate in Law from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Monash University, Dr Waller's academic background further underpins her distinguished career. Appointed to the Victorian Law Reform Commission in November 2020, she continues to influence the legal landscape in Victoria.
