Rachel Porter

Rachel Porter is a seasoned criminal lawyer with extensive experience in Western Australia's Children’s, Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts. Known for her adept handling of bail, sentencing, and trial hearings, Rachel also has a strong track record in briefing senior legal counsel on complex criminal offences. Her capabilities extend to managing restraining order cases with skillful negotiation. Before her current practice, Rachel honed her legal acumen by clerking for prominent criminal defence barristers, an experience that included volunteering at the Mental Health Law Centre. Her comprehensive understanding of criminal law was shaped through assisting in critical cases of historical sexual assault, drugs, homicide, and assault across all jurisdictions. Additionally, she has been instrumental in preparing criminal appeals before the Court of Appeal. She has been acknowledged for her dedication to criminal defence and was named a Criminal Law Rising Star in Doyle’s Guide from 2022 through 2025. Rachel's career includes significant roles at TASIC Legal and Butlers Lawyers & Notaries, with a foundational period as a law graduate under Tom Percy QC at Albert Wolff Chambers. Earlier, she served as a paralegal at the Mental Health Law Centre, further solidifying her commitment to the field. Rachel is a graduate of The University of Notre Dame Australia, holding an Honours degree in Law and an Arts degree specialising in Politics and International Relations. Her academic and practical experiences continue to inform her distinguished legal practice.
