Nicholas Brand

Nicholas Brand, the Managing Director at Slocombe Brand Lawyers, brings extensive expertise to his role. Admitted to practice in 1985, he began his legal career by establishing his own practice in 1992. He was a founding director and head of litigation at both Bazzani Brand Lawyers and its successor Bazzani Scully Brand Lawyers, demonstrating his leadership from 1998 to 2013. Nicholas leads a dedicated team, including Brigid O'Dwyer and Georgina Brand, both of whom have worked alongside him since the mid-1990s. Nicholas offers a vast breadth of legal knowledge and commercial acumen, representing a variety of companies across numerous industries. He frequently appears in the Federal, Supreme, and County Courts, as well as VCAT, leveraging his deep understanding of court procedures with superior tactical and case management skills. His practice encompasses a wide range of disputes, including contracts, shareholder issues, partnerships, gaming, licensing, leasing, employment, wills and estates, trade practices, building and planning, property, and intellectual property. In addition to litigation, Nicholas advises commercial and corporate clients on general business and corporate matters. His proficiency in trusts, succession planning, and commercial drafting is well-recognised, underscored by his accreditation as a trust and equity practitioner with the International Society of Trust and Equity Practitioners. Nicholas is known for his decisive and practical approach, with longstanding client relationships that highlight his ability to understand and meet client needs effectively. He completed his BA, LLB at Monash University, graduating in 1984.
