Stephen Fries

Stephen was admitted as a lawyer in 2014 after completing his studies at the University of Melbourne. Early in his career, he gained experience across various areas of law including property, commercial, and wills and estates, before choosing to focus on the latter. His experience includes working at a number of law firms, notably one with one of Victoria’s largest teams dedicated to wills and estates. He has also completed a Masters degree specialising in Wills and Estates law. Joining Novum as a Partner in March 2024, Stephen is dedicated to guiding clients through all aspects of wills and estates. His expertise covers estate planning, drafting Wills that incorporate Testamentary Trusts or Special Disability Trusts, business succession planning, and preparing Enduring Powers of Attorney and Appointments of Medical Treatment Decision Makers. He is well-versed in managing applications for Grants of Probate and other grants of representation, as well as handling estate administration. Stephen also assists clients with estate-related disputes, including pursuing and defending claims. Outside of his professional commitments, Stephen enjoys reading, playing badminton, furthering his legal studies, performing in his church band, and spending quality time with his family.
