Steven Pynt

Steven Pynt brings over 40 years of extensive experience in law, accounting, and business management. After obtaining his law degree, Steven completed his articled clerkship at Dwyer & Thomas Solicitors before transitioning to a role as a tax consultant with Duesburys, which eventually merged with Ernst & Whinney. In 1985, he founded his own legal firm and merged in 1988 with Michell Sillar McPhee, advancing to Partner. Later, he established Healy Pynt and McDonald Pynt Lawyers with David McDonald, where he served as Director until 2010 before joining Muzz Buzz Franchising Pty Ltd, ultimately holding key positions including Managing Director and Legal Director. Steven's leadership extends to several Public and Private company boards; he is currently the chairman of Global Health Limited and a non-executive Director of Gondwana Resources Limited. He resumed his legal practice in 2017 with Thompson Pynt and re-teamed with David McDonald in 2018 to form MP Commercial Lawyers. His previous roles include Chairman of the Commercial Tribunal of Western Australia, integral to resolving commercial tenancy and credit disputes, and membership of the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal. Steven's legal expertise lies in franchising, business and corporations law, and trusts. He is proficient in drafting franchise documents, mediating disputes, and advising on business agreements. He is also well-versed in wills and estate planning, including testamentary trusts and enduring powers of attorney. An advocate for academia, Steven has taught ethics and professional responsibility to law clerks and tutored in law and ethics. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Curtin University, and advanced degrees in law, business, and taxation from the University of Western Australia. He is a National Accredited Mediator and a member of the commercial law committee of the Law Society, bringing a wealth of knowledge and strategic insight to his practice.
