Stephen King serves as the Principal Partner at Media Arts Lawyers, where he applies his expertise in commercial and entertainment law, with a strong focus on the music industry. He has a particular interest in the independent music sector and represents both the Australian and New Zealand label associations, as well as numerous independent record labels across Australasia and internationally. Stephen's deep legal knowledge is complemented by his extensive experience in the music industry. His past roles include working in private practice in the UK, where he represented major artists, labels, and industry bodies, and serving as the Business Affairs Manager for Festival Mushroom Records in Australia. His dedication to music extends beyond his professional work; he actively supports the local music scene by providing pro-bono services to Music NT and Arts Law members. In addition to his legal practice, Stephen is involved in artist management, guiding the careers of multi award-winning artist, Georgi Kay, and ARIA Award-winning producer, Dean Tuza.
