Kaylene Perissinotto serves as Special Counsel, bringing a wealth of experience in planning and environmental law. She completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Queensland in 1992 and a Master of Laws from QUT in 2000, with a focus on environmental law and town planning. Admitted to practice in February 1995, Kaylene's career commenced at Minter Ellison, where she specialised in planning and environmental matters. Her international experience includes a stint as a planning lawyer for the London Borough of Haringey. In 2005, Kaylene transitioned from legal practice to direct VetShopAustralia Pty Ltd, growing it into Australia's largest online retailer of animal health products, recognised with the Telstra Business Award (People's Choice) in 2011. Returning to the legal field in 2015, she joined Leanne Bowie Lawyers, where she advises on planning and environmental law, focusing on the mining and extractive industries. Her expertise extends to infrastructure charges, environmental issues, and development approvals, with significant experience in due diligence and legislative interface between local and state governments. In 2023, Kaylene was appointed as a sessional academic at Griffith University, where she teaches planning law courses. Her contributions to the field have been acknowledged in the Best Lawyers publication for 2022 and 2023, reflecting peer recognition of her as a leading lawyer in her area.
