Joseph Abberton

Joe Abberton serves as a Partner with extensive experience in insolvency and reconstruction. He primarily advises insolvency practitioners and financiers on the complexities of receiverships, liquidations, and administrations. Joe's expertise has been demonstrated through his involvement with significant cases, including Arrium Group, Forge Group, Citation Resources, and Centennial Mining Limited, among others. His clientele features prominent institutions such as Bank of Queensland, Westpac Banking Corporation, St.George Bank, ANZ, and HSBC. Additionally, Joe collaborates with esteemed firms like KordaMentha, McGrathNicol, KPMG, FTI Consulting, and others. Before his tenure at Lavan, which began in 2007, Joe was part of the former PPB partnership, where he earned his Chartered Accountant qualification and gained valuable experience in diverse insolvency appointments. Joe also plays a pivotal role as the Deputy Chairman of the WA Division of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association. His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from The University of Notre Dame Australia.
