Christian Porter

Christian Porter, a distinguished legal professional, began his law career in 1998. He initially honed his skills in Commercial Litigation at Clayton Utz before advancing to the role of Senior State Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Western Australia. Here, he prosecuted serious criminal offences across the District and Supreme Courts and represented the state in appellate matters. He also shared his extensive knowledge through teaching Criminal Law and Evidence at the University of Western Australia and serving as a Professor of Law at Curtin University. In the realm of politics, Christian made significant contributions. Elected to the WA Legislative Assembly in 2008 as the Member for Bateman, he held prominent positions including Treasurer and Attorney-General. His career progressed to the federal level in 2013 when he was elected as the Member for Pearce in the House of Representatives. During his time in federal politics, he held key portfolios, including Commonwealth Attorney-General from 2017 to 2021, showcasing his vast expertise in legal and legislative matters. After leaving federal politics in 2022, Christian returned to his roots in law, founding Henley Stirling Lawyers. His practice as a Solicitor and Barrister included diverse legal proceedings such as jury trials, appeals, and bail applications. In 2023, Christian was called to the Bar, joining Geoffrey Miller Chambers, where he now focuses on criminal and quasi-criminal matters.
