Fiona McGregor

Fiona McGregor has been a practicing solicitor since 1988, with extensive experience primarily in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne and regional Victoria. She established her own practice in July 1993, initially known as Fiona R. McGregor, which was renamed Fiona McGregor Family Lawyer Pty Ltd in August 2019. Fiona holds both a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Medieval and Renaissance History, and a Bachelor of Laws, graduating from Monash University in 1987. Over her career, she has managed thousands of property settlements and numerous arrangements concerning children, in addition to handling divorces and providing comprehensive family law advice. Her practice encompasses a wide range of family law matters, including child relocation cases, which sometimes involve overseas countries and complex kidnapping issues outside the scope of the Hague Convention. Fiona’s experience covers property disputes involving modest to multi-million dollar asset pools, family trusts, overseas assets, and longstanding farming properties. Fiona is adept at managing straightforward divorces, child support agreements, financial agreements, and negotiating settlements through various methods such as mediation, collaborative meetings, and court proceedings. She frequently works with clients from married, de facto, and same-sex relationships, tailoring her approach to best meet their individual circumstances. Committed to staying current with legal developments and effective client representation methods, Fiona is both a skilled negotiator and an experienced court advocate. Whether a mediated resolution or court intervention is required, she provides strategic guidance and support throughout the process. Beyond family law, Fiona’s practice includes related areas important to family wellbeing, such as wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardianships, and conveyancing to finalise property settlements. She is an active member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
