David Hinton

David Hinton is the principal of DJ Hinton Lawyers, bringing over 25 years of legal experience to his practice. Having worked across top-tier firms in the Gold Coast, Brisbane CBD, Mackay, and currently in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, David has gained extensive expertise in family law, insurance and TPD claims, and estate litigation. Since residing in Hervey Bay with his family in 1998, David has cultivated a practice focused on providing clients with dedicated legal advice in areas where he has considerable proficiency. After graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology in 1988, David was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 1991. His legal journey began with an articles of clerkship under the guidance of Michael Baumann, who is now a Senior Judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. This foundation sparked his passion for law, particularly family law and personal compensation, which has since defined his career. At DJ Hinton Lawyers, David concentrates on family law, striving to achieve realistic and cost-effective outcomes for clients while understanding the substantial emotional and financial costs associated with family law proceedings. Beyond his professional life, David is a committed community member, actively participating in organisations such as the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise, where he has held several leadership roles. His involvement has been significant in introducing beneficial programs like the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness Program. David is also a sports enthusiast and strongly supports his children's sporting pursuits. Additionally, he serves as a Director at the Hervey Bay Boat Club.
