His career includes a notable tenure as a partner in the Sydney real estate team of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, now King & Wood Mallesons, where the team received top accolades from The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. Since 2014, Michael has served as a non-executive director of the Australian Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust under Fife Capital, and he chairs their Compliance Committee. His academic contributions include 14 years as the author of a seminal report on NSW Strata and Community Titles Law. He has also imparted his knowledge as a former associate lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney, and as an occasional lecturer at the University of NSW.
