Michael Allen

Michael Allen, a Partner at Bugden Allen Lawyers, brings extensive expertise in major property projects and developments, notably in mixed-use, commercial, infrastructure, tourism, industrial, and urban projects. With over 35 years of experience, he has become a leading authority on airspace projects, planned communities, and various titling, including strata and community titles. Michael has acted for major developers, institutional, finance, and government clients, contributing significantly to the formation of land laws and structuring major real estate projects. His innovative solutions have facilitated many of Australia's iconic developments. Recognised as a leading real estate lawyer, Michael has been featured in Chambers Global Guides and recommended in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. In 2009, he was described by Chambers Global as one of the country's top titling experts. His career includes a notable tenure as a partner in the Sydney real estate team of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, now King & Wood Mallesons, where the team received top accolades from The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. Since 2014, Michael has served as a non-executive director of the Australian Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust under Fife Capital, and he chairs their Compliance Committee. His academic contributions include 14 years as the author of a seminal report on NSW Strata and Community Titles Law. He has also imparted his knowledge as a former associate lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney, and as an occasional lecturer at the University of NSW. An active voice in industry seminars, Michael regularly publishes papers both domestically and internationally. His foundational years were shaped by his education at the University of New South Wales, where he earned his BJuris and LLB in Law from 1973 to 1978.
