About Alysha
Alysha Jacobsen is a dedicated Senior Associate at Bouchier Khan Lawyers, holding a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Southern Queensland. She was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2012 and brings over a decade of experience in criminal law to her role, having commenced her legal career at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Toowoomba. Initially serving as a Legal Support Officer, Alysha gained extensive experience in prosecuting serious criminal offences such as murder and large-scale drug trafficking. Upon her admission as a Lawyer, she advanced to the position of Legal Officer, where she appeared frequently in the District and Supreme Courts, handling sentences and bail applications. In 2017, Alysha transitioned to criminal defence, focusing on criminal law, domestic violence, child protection, and civil litigation. Since joining Bouchier Khan Lawyers in 2020, she has become a familiar presence in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court, adeptly managing a wide array of criminal and traffic matters, from work licence applications to defending clients against grave charges such as drug trafficking and serious assaults. Her practice spans across Courts in the Darling Downs and frequently extends to the District and Supreme Courts. Alysha's background in prosecution provides her with a unique insight into the prosecutorial process, allowing her to leverage this understanding effectively in defence work to benefit her clients. Her prowess has been recognised with multiple appearances on the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland Inspo List in 2020, 2021, and 2022, acknowledging her as a source of inspiration among her peers. Her leadership skills are further exemplified by her role as President of the Downs and South Western Queensland Law Association, a position she has held since January 2024. Alysha's career reflects a robust commitment to the legal profession and a deep understanding of both prosecution and defence dynamics, making her a significant asset to her clients and colleagues alike.
