Kim Heap

Kim Heap is the Principal Lawyer at her practice, where she provides comprehensive immigration law services to government bodies, businesses, and individual clients. She brings extensive experience in handling a wide range of visa and sponsorship applications, with a strong focus on skilled, employer sponsored, and temporary activity visas. Known for her strategic approach, Kim excels in managing complex and unique immigration matters, including visa refusals, cancellations, and review applications before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Kim is also deeply committed to supporting vulnerable communities, working closely with several not-for-profit organisations that assist migrants, refugees, and victims of family violence. Her dedication to pro bono work and advocating for migrant rights has been recognised through awards such as the Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year in 2019 from the Law Council of Australia, and the Pro Bono Legal Award in 2021 from the Law Society of Tasmania. In addition to her legal practice, Kim contributes to the broader understanding of migration law as Vice President of the Migration Institute of Australia’s Victoria/Tasmania Branch and as a University Associate at the University of Tasmania. She is a frequent presenter on various visa-related topics, providing education and insights to migration professionals, employers, law students, and migrant communities. Outside of her professional commitments, Kim enjoys pursuing her interests in music and needlecraft, while also dedicating time to caring for her beloved bulldog, Rosie.
