Alistair is a seasoned barrister whose distinguished legal career spans both Australia and the United Kingdom, bringing a wealth of experience to a diverse range of legal areas. He began his journey with William Forster Chambers in 1986, where he spent 12 years cementing his reputation in the Northern Territory with a primary focus on commercial litigation. During this period, he participated in over 24 reported cases, laying the groundwork for his expertise in complex legal disputes. In 1998, expanding his professional horizons, Alistair joined the English Bar and practised at St Philips Chambers in Birmingham. There, he quickly rose to prominence as one of the Midlands’ foremost commercial juniors, earning accolades for his toughness and extraordinary ability in handling intricate legal challenges. Recognised for his commercial acumen and pragmatic approach, he was named the leading commercial junior in the Midlands by 2008. Upon his return to William Forster Chambers, Alistair has led major cases in commercial and construction law, while also addressing constitutional, administrative, and human rights issues, as well as land rights matters. His expertise also extends to defending criminal prosecutions linked to mining, environmental concerns, and offshore fishing. Beyond his local practice, Alistair is actively involved with the Australian Bar's efforts in South-East Asia and has contributed significantly to advocacy education in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, demonstrating his commitment to the legal profession's future.
