Thomas Drake

Thomas Drake, known affectionately as Thom around the office, has been a valued member of the WHP team for over five years. His journey in the legal field began at the young age of 17, when he commenced his career as a paralegal. His path has seen him evolve into a key part of the team, where he now shares his insights by mentoring paralegals alongside his colleague Sathya. Thom completed a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Forensic Science in Biology from the University of Technology Sydney in 2024. He further honed his legal skills by obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice from the same institution in 2025. His comprehensive education has equipped him with a robust grounding in criminal law, commercial law, and personal injury. Before being admitted as a lawyer in May 2025, Thom gained valuable experience assisting in areas such as criminal defence, confiscation of proceeds of crime, intentional torts, and personal injury. Since then, his dedication to criminal law has flourished, reflecting his passion and acumen in this area, though he practices broadly across the firm’s varied legal offerings. In addition to his legal expertise, Thom brings a sense of humour and charm to his work, making him a respected and gifted member of the team. Outside of his professional commitments, he is an avid CrossFit enthusiast, a pickleball coach, and actively participates in a variety of unconventional running events. His dynamic approach to both life and law makes him a unique and engaging presence in the office.
