Vivian Evans serves as Principal Director at Uther Webster & Evans, a position she has held since 1990. Throughout her extensive career, Vivian has built a respected reputation across several areas of legal practice, including succession, wills and estate litigation, mediation and planning, criminal law, commercial and equity litigation, as well as family law. She has appeared in courts ranging from the Local Court to the High Court of Australia and has played significant roles in Royal Commissions, Special Commissions, and inquiries. Notably, Vivian assisted in the ACT Victims of Crime Commission’s Board of Inquiry into the Lehrmann matter and was instrumental in securing a third Inquest into the death of Scott Johnson, which resulted in the successful prosecution of the offender. In commercial law, Vivian advises individuals, company directors, liquidators, administrators, and trustees in bankruptcy on complex corporate disputes and commercial litigation. Her civil litigation work spans equity, professional negligence, commercial and corporate matters across various courts including the Local, District, Supreme, Federal, and Federal Circuit Courts, as well as appeals. Family law has been a constant throughout Vivian’s career. She now supports the firm’s family law team in managing complex property settlements and negotiations, often drawing on her knowledge in insolvency, criminal, and succession law to resolve intricate issues effectively. In addition to her legal practice, Vivian co-owns and manages Capricorn Credit Pty Ltd, a debt recovery mercantile agency, which complements her expertise in debt recovery and insolvency matters.
