Louise Cassar

Louise Cassar is a veteran legal professional with over 25 years of extensive experience, offering a wealth of knowledge in both family law and a variety of other legal disciplines. The early stages of her career saw her excel in commercial dispute resolution and civil litigation, specifically within the realms of Professional Indemnity and Public Liability, while working with prestigious commercial law firms across Australia. Her international experience includes a tenure at a prominent law firm in Hong Kong, where she honed her skills in insolvency litigation. Louise has also acquired significant in-house legal experience, having managed public liability run-off claims for HIH Casualty and General Insurance Limited during a critical period of liquidation and administrative reorganisation. For nearly a decade, she has focused primarily on family law, practising in boutique and medium-sized firms in Sydney, Northern Beaches, and Chatswood. Her practice is underscored by a compassionate approach that helps clients navigate the often complex and emotional terrain of family law. Louise is known for applying her own life experiences, including her journey as a mother of two adult children, to her work, offering both empathy and robust legal solutions to her clients. Beyond her immediate legal practice, Louise is a committed social advocate. She has collaborated with the University of Notre Dame Australia Law School to submit a significant proposal to the NSW Government for the establishment of a domestic violence intervention programme. This proposal advocates a therapeutic and preventative approach to managing cases of domestic and family violence. Louise is also passionate about community wellness, having been an inaugural committee member of the Community of Calm – Arts for Wellness Project. This initiative, in collaboration with entities such as the Big Anxiety Festival, UNSW, and the Black Dog Institute, developed a programme which garnered an Australia Day Award from the Northern Beaches Council in 2019. In all her endeavours, Louise is dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for her clients, whether through carefully applied legal strategies or by making necessary referrals to other support services.
