About Casey
Casey Johnston was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2019. She completed her Bachelor of Laws with a minor in International Studies and Politics at Murdoch University. Furthering her qualifications, Casey holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and a Certificate in Governance Practice from Chartered Secretaries Australia. Casey began her legal career at Legal Aid Western Australia, where she developed substantial experience across the Magistrates Court, District Court, and Children’s Court. She has handled a range of matters including complex sentencing cases, contested bail applications, and traffic offences. Her work at Legal Aid also extended to family law, alongside delivering legal education sessions to schools and community groups. Before transitioning to legal practice, Casey spent several years in the mining industry, where she was involved in the acquisition and divestment of mines both in Australia and internationally. She held board roles as Director and Company Secretary for several companies during this time. Outside of her legal work, Casey enjoys watching crime documentaries, coastal walks, and planning travel adventures. She values exploring new cultures with the accompaniment of a good book and cherishes quality time with family and friends, advocating for a balanced approach to professional and personal life.
