Karunn Shahani is the Principal Lawyer and Managing Director of Thornton + King, where he guides the firm’s strategic direction and contributes extensive expertise in property and commercial law. Known for delivering clear and practical advice, Karunn approaches legal challenges with a strong commercial perspective, assisting clients to navigate risk and make informed decisions confidently. With experience as both an investor and business owner, Karunn appreciates the commercial considerations that underpin legal matters. Karunn has been recognised by the Law Society of New South Wales for his advanced knowledge in property law. He has also contributed to the profession by serving on the Law Society’s Property Law Committee, where he participated in reviewing and shaping property law practice and reforms. Additionally, he served on the Executive Committee of the North Metropolitan Law Society for six years. He has led significant matters including negotiating and managing the sale of multiple mixed-use properties comprising numerous residential, retail and commercial tenancies to a single developer. He has provided advice on the acquisition of high-value development sites, including contract negotiation and risk management, and acted for developers in the off-the-plan sale of multiple residential lots.
