Ray Abrahams

Ray Abrahams, Consulting Principal at Taylor Rose, brings a wealth of expertise to the field of commercial litigation, with a legal career spanning over 45 years. His legal journey began in South Africa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and Law from the University of Witwatersrand. Ray completed his articles of clerkship at a prestigious Johannesburg law firm, leading to his admission as a solicitor of the High Court of South Africa in 1979, and subsequently gaining admission across all South African provinces. After relocating to Australia in 1998, Ray expanded his legal qualifications by completing his articles of clerkship at Batten Sacks Solicitors in Melbourne, followed by further studies at Deakin University. He was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2000. Ray's profound knowledge and dedication in commercial litigation are underscored by his tenure as a Partner at Kalus Kenny Lawyers in Melbourne from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, he established Ray Abrahams & Associates Commercial Lawyers, providing comprehensive legal services across various commercial disputes. His firm adeptly handles cases involving debt recovery, building disputes, contractual issues, property and leasing disputes, corporations’ law, insolvency, and liquidations, representing clients in forums such as the Supreme Court, County Court, Magistrates Court, and VCAT. A versatile litigator, Ray has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in esteemed legal venues, including The Supreme Court of Appeal, The Supreme Court of Victoria, The Federal Court, and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission. His skills are further augmented by his accreditation as a Mediator under the National Mediator Accreditation Standards from 2011 to 2014.
