About Jim
Jim Maitland is a consultant solicitor with extensive experience in commercial law, property transactions and dispute resolution. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and began his legal career at a Sydney firm where he worked on commercial law, property matters and liquor law. Jim joined Taperell Rutledge in 1979, initially focusing on personal injury law and was among the first group of lawyers recognised by The Law Society of New South Wales in this area. Over the past two decades, he has returned his focus to commercial and property law, as well as dispute resolution. He has acted for dispossessed landowners in significant resumptions on the Central Coast, including multiple projects such as the Baker Street Car Park, Broken Bay Headland and various road developments. Jim also advises some of the largest sporting organisations on the Coast. Beyond his legal practice, Jim’s involvement in the Central Coast community includes past roles as President of the Central Coast Law Society and President of the Gosford City Orchestra. His deep understanding of the region’s commercial and cultural landscape enhances his ability to serve the interests of both commercial and personal clients. Jim’s areas of practice include commercial law, property law, conveyancing, estate planning and dispute resolution.
