John Sullivan brings over four decades of experience in criminal law, demonstrating a strong commitment to advocating for his clients and safeguarding their legal rights. His career spans a broad spectrum of criminal matters, from minor traffic offences to complex cases involving assault, theft, drug offences, and white collar crime. This breadth of experience equips John with a comprehensive understanding of legal nuances, enabling him to develop defence strategies that are tailored to the specific circumstances of each client. He has significant courtroom experience in Magistrates’, Children’s, and County Courts, handling contested criminal proceedings, pleas, bail applications, committals, and appeals. John frequently appears in courts across Sale, Bairnsdale, and the Latrobe Valley. Additionally, he has instructed counsel for numerous trials in the County and Supreme Courts, as well as appeals in the Court of Appeal. Beyond criminal law, John has substantial experience assisting clients with Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal matters. He is also skilled in mediation, having facilitated resolutions in family law property disputes, family provision claims, and various commercial disputes. John’s dedication and expertise were formally recognised when he received the Regional Lawyer of the Year Award from the Law Institute of Victoria in 2015.
