About Ian
Ian Diehm (OAM) is a consultant with extensive experience in both public prosecution and private legal practice. He holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Queensland. Ian began his career as a Commonwealth Crown Prosecutor from 1974 to 1976 before joining the private bar, where he practised as a barrister-at-law until 1988. During this period, he appeared in a variety of cases including tax and constitutional law for the Commonwealth, as well as administrative and commercial law matters. Following his admission as a solicitor, Ian joined Stephens & Tozer in 1989, where he focused on litigation across a broad spectrum of areas. His litigation expertise encompasses a wide range of matters, reflecting a comprehensive understanding of the legal challenges facing his clients. Ian has also demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the community through his involvement with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Inc (RSPCA). He served the organisation from 1976 to 2006, including a term as President and as a member of its National Executive. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1994. Beyond his legal career, Ian maintains a strong interest in sport. He has a background in cricket, having played club cricket for Toombul and represented GPS at the Under 19 level. Additionally, Ian is a published author, having been commissioned by Queensland Cricket and the Queensland Rugby Union to write historical accounts of their organisations.
