Hugh Scott serves as Director and leads his team in addressing complex commercial disputes, including high-profile corporate litigation and a range of regulatory actions. His expertise spans trade practices, property, building and construction, and insurance litigation. Hugh has been involved in significant matters such as the HIH Royal Commission and related ASIC investigations, where he successfully defended prosecutions. His work includes insider trading and ATO investigations, including Project Wickenby for major public companies, and ASIC interviews. He has also participated in ICAC investigations and handled large commercial, construction, planning, and environmental litigations in various Supreme Courts and appellant Courts. Notably, Hugh's career involves prominent trust litigation in both state and Federal Courts, culminating in a landmark High Court case concerning director and officer liability insurance. His role extends to offering counsel for major public companies on commercial disputes and competition tribunal matters. Hugh has acted for judges in the Federal Court, New South Wales Court of Appeal, and High Court, and successfully defended a Federal Court class action against an ASX-listed corporation. His representation of a significant electricity generator in a Part IV restrictive trade practices action against a global resources group in the Federal Court of Australia, as well as on substantial coal supply contracts, highlights his extensive experience.
