Ric Sofra

Ric Sofra is a Director at Sofra Solicitors, with admission to practice dating back to 1998. After gaining valuable experience practising law in Dublin, Ireland for two years, Ric returned to Australia in 2001 to continue his legal career with the firm. Ric provides comprehensive legal advice across a broad spectrum of areas. He is particularly skilled in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, including matters relating to agricultural disputes, medical negligence, insurance law, building disputes, and industrial relations. His commercial law work extends to trusts, franchise agreements, and the sale of businesses and companies. His experience in the transport and logistics sector is notable, having worked extensively on the complex legal issues unique to the trucking industry. This includes handling matters such as RMS and VicRoads prosecutions, National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) concerns, chain of responsibility, and drafting bespoke agreements for transport operators. Ric also advises on property law and leases, managing transactions involving residential, rural, and commercial real estate. He has acted on a diverse range of commercial agreements and leases, drawing on thorough knowledge of the legal framework that governs property and business operations. Holding a Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Bond University, Ric is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and is registered to practice before the High Court of Australia. He has also served as President of the Goulburn Valley Property Law Association and currently leads the firm's Property and Litigation Departments.
