Jane Holford

Jane Holford is a lawyer with experience in family law, having worked in this sector since 2017. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia before moving to Victoria to obtain a Juris Doctor from Monash University. Jane was admitted to practice in 2020. Jane’s experience encompasses supporting clients through the complexities of family law by providing clear, practical advice and emphasising a holistic approach. She is committed to helping clients understand the support services available during separation, including in-court assistance, educational programs, and specialist support groups. Jane prioritises clear communication, ensuring clients are informed about legal processes and associated costs, and aims to achieve sensible outcomes that meet their needs. Her background includes coordinating family law continuing professional development and assisting self-represented litigants in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Jane is also interested in leveraging technology to make family law more efficient and accessible. She stays informed on current policy developments affecting family law to best serve her clients. Prior to joining Smith Family Law, Jane volunteered at a community legal centre, where she gained insight into the diverse and often complex issues faced by family law clients. She developed skills in delivering tailored, cost-effective legal advice and has a strong focus on settlement-oriented practice. Outside of work, Jane enjoys exploring new recipes with family and friends and relaxing by watching television series.
