With 32 years of legal experience, Melissa has successfully cultivated Shire Legal into a dynamic and innovative practice. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws (with Honours) from the University of Wollongong in 1994, having already gained practical insights as a paralegal for a sole practitioner. Her initial career steps took her to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission as an investigator, deepening her regulatory knowledge. Admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1996, Melissa accumulated diverse legal expertise at a local firm, engaging in commercial litigation, personal injury, and property law. Her career advanced as a Senior Associate in multinational firms, where she expanded her practice to include high-level commercial litigation, property law, franchising, insurance, intellectual property, and trade practices. In 2003, Melissa established Shire Legal, where she channels her passion for integrating innovative legal practices to better serve local businesses and residents. Her commitment to excellence is underpinned by her appointment as a Notary Public in 2017 and her completion of a Master of Laws (Applied Law) in Business Law from The College of Law. Additionally, as an accredited adviser with the Family Business Association and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ course, Melissa stands out as a leader adept at navigating complex legal and business landscapes.
