Michael Seton

Michael Seton is the Founder and Solicitor Director of Seton Family Lawyers, a progressive law family law firm that operates differently from most. With over 20 years of legal experience, Michael is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, dedicated to supporting vulnerable families to assist them in achieving the security, certainty and independence needed to better their future. After earning a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science (Psychology), Michael began his legal career at a national firm in Sydney. He later completed a Master of Laws and, in 2017, was accredited by The Law Society of NSW as a Specialist in Family Law. Admitted to both the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, Michael can represent clients in any NSW or Commonwealth court or tribunal. His leadership skills extend beyond Seton Family Lawyers and is a dedicated secretary and committee member of the Central Coast Law Society, and a member of The University of Sydney’s Human Research Ethics Committee He also proudly maintains a current posting of Flight Lieutenant and Legal Officer as a specialist reservist with the Royal Australian Air Force. Michael has been honoured with prestigious awards that recognise his excellence and commitment to the legal industry, as well as his dedication to championing mental health within the profession. This includes being awarded Lawyers Weekly Family Law Partner of the Year and The Law Society of New South Wales Wellbeing Champion of the Year in 2024. Continuing his commitment to the profession, in 2025 he was named Mentor of the Year and received the coveted Excellence Award—the top honour of the night—at the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards. He’s also achieved numerous other awards and finalist nominations within Employer of Choice and Wellness award categories.
