About Daniela
Daniela Poletti is special counsel at Selvaggio Lawyers, bringing extensive experience in Family Law to her role. She earned her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Sydney in 1984 and was admitted to practice in New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1985. Early in her career, Daniela gained broad legal experience but has since focused her practice predominantly on Family Law. In 1996, Daniela achieved accreditation as a Family Law practitioner by the Law Society, a recognition she has maintained through her dedicated practice. She understands that family law matters are often emotionally challenging for clients and is committed to providing compassionate and practical support throughout the legal process. Daniela has handled a wide range of Family Law cases, including complex property divisions and Spouse Maintenance disputes involving high net worth clients, trusts, overseas assets, and intellectual property such as patents. She also manages intricate parenting matters that may require expert involvement, including child psychologists and Independent Children’s Lawyers. At the same time, Daniela applies the same level of diligence and care to less complex cases. Her extensive career has enabled her to build strong professional relationships with leading barristers and expert witnesses such as forensic accountants and psychologists, ensuring comprehensive support for her clients when specialised input is necessary. While experienced in court appearances, Daniela prioritises resolving disputes through early and less adversarial means, including various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution. She was a founding member of both the Australian Institute of Collaborative Professionals and Greater Sydney Collaborative Lawyers and has completed an accredited Mediation Course at Bond University. From initial consultation, Daniela ensures clients fully understand the Family Law system and receive clear, realistic legal advice alongside practical cost-saving strategies. She employs her deep knowledge and strategic insight to guide clients towards the most favourable outcomes, providing ongoing advice throughout their case to assist with decision-making. Daniela is committed to supporting and guiding her clients through all stages of Family Law proceedings, working diligently to achieve successful resolutions. Her areas of expertise include Family Law, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Mediation and Arbitration, Child Support, De-Facto Relationship Breakdowns, Domestic Violence and Apprehended Violence Orders, Parenting Issues and Arrangements for Children, Property Settlements, Separation and Divorce, as well as Wills and Contested Estates.
