David Taylor

David is a committed legal advocate with a strong foundation in championing people's rights. His journey began at Monash University, where he actively participated in student politics, eventually serving as National Education Officer of the National Union of Students. After obtaining his law degree, he worked as an Industrial Officer in Tasmania, which paved the way for his legal career in Sydney. Admitted as a solicitor in 2001, David initially focussed on asbestos-related disease claims. His involvement in numerous pivotal cases, including several that reached the High Court, led to significant legal precedents that have greatly benefited victims. His work in this area is characterised by a profound empathy for his clients and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes. Expanding his legal expertise in 2007, David embraced employment and industrial law, representing individuals and unions in various matters, including unfair dismissal, adverse action, underpayment, harassment, and discrimination. His skilled advocacy was recognised with accreditation in employment and industrial law in 2010. David's significant cases include representing the Australian & International Pilots Association during the notable Qantas dispute and securing landmark legal victories under the Independent Contractors Act. In 2016, alongside Tanya Segelov, he established Segelov Taylor Lawyers, a firm dedicated to providing high-quality, personalised legal services.
