Stephen Schembri

Stephen was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1998, following a career path that began as a Police Officer. His successful completion of a Law degree transitioned his focus to the Victorian Office of Public Prosecutions, where he served as a Police Prosecutor. In 2003, driven by a passion for justice and community service, he founded Schembri + McCluskys. Stephen demonstrates expertise across a range of legal areas, including family, criminal, and civil litigation. His extensive courtroom experience spans all Victorian jurisdictions, such as the Magistrates’ Court, County Court, Children’s Court, and Supreme Court. Whether he is representing clients in court or offering straightforward advice, Stephen prioritises client interests with his considerable legal acumen and exceptional advocacy skills to secure the most favourable outcomes. He is adept at pinpointing critical issues and leading negotiations to fruitful conclusions, mindful of the financial and emotional toll legal proceedings can have on clients. Beyond his professional life, Stephen is a devoted family man who appreciates time at the beach and travelling. His commitment to running is evidenced by completing over 30 marathons, a testament to his perseverance. A passionate music lover, particularly of The Beatles, he collects memorabilia and takes an interest in historical building restoration. Additionally, Stephen is a dedicated member of the Essendon Football Club. As he approaches a 20-year milestone with the firm, Stephen takes pride in the collective achievements of Schembri + McCluskys’ legal team and support staff.
