Paula Pfingst

Paula is an accomplished Family Lawyer at Sayer Jones, where she has been practising since July 2016. Having dedicated her career solely to Family Law since her admission in January 2013, Paula brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her clients. Her academic background is distinguished by a Bachelor of Law degree with first class honours and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction, majoring in Creative and Professional Writing, both from Queensland University of Technology. Her outstanding performance in Family Law was recognised with the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland Prize in 2012. Before venturing into private practice, Paula served as a Legal Associate to the Honourable Justice Bell and the Honourable Justice Kent, eventually becoming an Associate to Justice Kent. In these roles, she gained invaluable insights by working closely with the judiciary on complex Family Law cases. Her comprehensive exposure to court proceedings, including both first instance and appeal divisions, endows her with a profound understanding of the legal processes and likely outcomes for her clients. Paula is deeply aware of the emotional and financial toll of litigation. She is dedicated to offering her clients balanced, objective, and practical advice, striving for amicable resolutions when feasible. Nonetheless, her proficiency and comfort in courtroom litigation ensure robust representation when court proceedings become necessary. Her practice encompasses all facets of Family Law, including property and parenting issues, as well as Intervention Orders. Paula is particularly interested in cases involving the relocation of children or complex property disputes with international elements. She adeptly combines her strong academic prowess with practical legal skills and interpersonal abilities to provide exceptional representation to her clients, guiding them through challenging times with empathy and expertise. Paula is an active member of multiple professional organisations, including the Victorian Women Lawyers, the Law Institute of Victoria, the Golden Key International Honours Society, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, and the Australian Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, reflecting her commitment to her field and ongoing professional development.
