About Us
Samford Family Law has been an integral part of the local community since its establishment in 2016 by Justine Dean. As of July 2023, the firm has embraced a new chapter under the ownership of Hensen Maxwell Solicitors. This transition brings with it a wealth of expertise from a parent firm with over 35 years of legal experience. Our primary focus remains steadfast on family law, offering comprehensive services ranging from pre-relationship agreements, often known as prenups, to matters of separation involving property and superannuation division, as well as parenting arrangements, child support, and issues relating to domestic and family violence. Tamara Hensen, who resides locally, is dedicated to continuing the distinguished work of Samford Family Law. She is committed to delivering family law and ancillary legal services to the Samford area, ensuring our community receives reliable and compassionate legal support. Beyond family law, we cater to a broad spectrum of legal needs, including property settlements, children’s arrangements, divorce proceedings, and domestic violence matters. We also extend our services to conveyancing, wills and succession planning, as well as managing deceased estates. Our aim is to provide a seamless blend of expertise and community-focused legal assistance to all our clients.

Family Law
At Samford Family Law, our extensive expertise in family law property settlements encompasses guiding clients through the often intricate process of asset division post-separation. Recognising that no fixed rule dictates an automatic 50/50 split, we navigate the family law framework to evaluate what constitutes a fair and reasonable division of property based on each client’s unique circumstances. We advise on strategic timing for negotiations, emphasising the importance of acting within prescribed legal timeframes, especially for those emerging from de facto relationships or officially dissolved marriages, to avoid being ‘out of time’ and potentially forgo entitlements. Our goal remains to achieve favourable and practical outcomes efficiently and amicably. Our firm provides comprehensive legal advice that extends beyond property settlement, offering pre-separation counsel tailored to equip individuals with the knowledge and options available before life-altering decisions are made. By addressing the broader legal spectrum, including potential overlaps with domestic violence concerns, we empower our clients with actionable advice, while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to their specific situations. With a client-focused approach, Samford Family Law stands as staunch advocates in our clients' corners, facilitating not just legal proceedings, but a pathway towards resolution and peace of mind.
