Yuji Otaki

Yuji Otaki is a dedicated solicitor with a strong commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the community. With qualifications in Aged and Community Care and experience as a Senior First Aid certificate holder, Yuji brings a compassionate approach to his work. His extensive background includes serving as a NAATI-qualified Japanese interpreter in various courts across Australia, including the Magistrate, Supreme, District, Federal Circuit, and Family Courts. Through this experience, Yuji has been involved in matters spanning criminal, civil, family, commercial disputes, and migration law. Originally from Hiroshima, Yuji now resides in Brisbane, embracing the city as his home. He holds fond memories of his hometown, particularly recommending a visit to Hiroshima to experience the unique local okonomiyaki, though he often admits his own favourite dish is katsudon. Yuji’s journey to Australia began as an exchange student from Shudo University, where he studied politics, eventually transferring to the Adelaide University law school to complete his legal studies. He was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of South Australia. Yuji’s interpreting work over the years has deepened his understanding of the challenges faced by non-English speakers navigating the legal system.
