About Tim
Tim Robertson, with an illustrious career spanning over four decades, epitomises the dynamic essence of the legal profession; that is, the perpetual evolution and learning driven by emerging Acts, regulations, and systems. Raised in picturesque East Gippsland, Tim made his way to Melbourne to pursue his passion for the law. His adeptness in Property and Development Law, alongside Commercial Law, has been honed through years of dedicated practice and experience. Since the 1980s, Tim has called Bendigo home, establishing his own practice before embarking on a significant partnership with Villawood Properties. From its humble beginnings as a small investment syndicate in Bendigo in 1989, Villawood has flourished into Australia's most-trusted name in residential land development. Under Tim’s legal guidance, Robertson Hyetts has long been a cornerstone in supporting Villawood's expansive projects across Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland. Tim notes, "Few other Property law practitioners can claim the depth of experience I have with large-scale residential property developments across multiple states. The complexity and scope of these projects are both fascinating and demanding." In 1998, Tim's practice amalgamated with Andrew Pickles’, giving rise to Robertson Hyetts. Though Tim stepped back from the firm’s daily operations in 2019, he continues to provide his expertise to the Property team. Beyond the courtroom, Tim has pursued a fulfilling venture in winemaking, a passion which began in the confines of his garage in Kennington. Fifteen years ago, he transitioned into viticulture in Harcourt North, and now owns and manages two esteemed vineyards, Lome and Bress. As a dedicated vigneron, Tim champions sustainable farming strategies, and enthusiastically recommends a Roussanne, a white variety known for thriving in central Victoria’s terroir. Tim is a fervent advocate for the opportunities that living and working in regional Victoria present. His extensive legal career in Bendigo, alongside his roles in academia at La Trobe University, entrepreneurial ventures, and active participation in a vibrant local community, has been profoundly rewarding.
