Sean Powell

Sean Powell is the Managing Partner at Robbins Watson, a role he assumed in 2025 after joining the firm in 2019 and becoming a partner in 2022. He leads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, bringing a steady and solutions-focused approach to managing complex legal matters. Sean is deeply committed to cultivating a workplace culture that prioritises both client interests and the well-being of his colleagues. With a Master of Laws specialising in Wills and Estates, Sean is recognised for his proficiency in succession law and contested estates. He is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), which underscores his expertise in handling intricate matters involving family provision claims, will challenges, informal wills, superannuation and life insurance disputes, as well as trust issues. His practice spans Queensland and New South Wales, providing him with valuable cross-jurisdictional experience that is particularly beneficial in cases involving interstate assets or parties. Sean’s litigation experience extends beyond succession law to civil disputes involving trusts, corporations, equitable claims, contracts, real estate, and powers of attorney. His earlier career included work in commercial, property, and corporations law, as well as estate planning across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and New South Wales. This commercial background enhances his ability to navigate disputes with a comprehensive understanding of both legal and practical commercial considerations. Outside his legal practice, Sean contributes to the community as a board member of the Bendigo Community Bank in Tugun and participates in its Finance, Risk and Audit Committee. He enjoys an active lifestyle with his partner and two children, often spending time outdoors at the beach, cooking, and supporting local sports, including cricket, football, golf, and surfing.
