Ruth Hennigan

Ruth Hennigan is a Director with extensive experience in family law. She began her legal career as a criminal barrister in Dublin, Ireland, before relocating to Australia. Initially intending to holiday for 12 months, Ruth quickly immersed herself in the Australian legal system, enrolling at Sydney University and working towards admission as a practitioner in New South Wales. Ruth developed a keen interest in family law while working at a boutique family law practice during her transition to Australian qualifications. She joined RFL in 2017 as an Associate, where she earned a reputation as a knowledgeable and determined advocate for her clients. In recognition of her contributions, Ruth was appointed Director in 2023. With a practice focused exclusively on family law since her admission in Australia in 2016, Ruth handles a broad range of matters including property settlements, spouse maintenance, child support, international child abduction, and complex parenting disputes. She is committed to assisting families to resolve issues as amicably and efficiently as possible, understanding the importance of maintaining cooperation between parties beyond legal proceedings. While Ruth emphasises dispute resolution and aims to minimise the need for litigation, she is equally adept at advocacy when court proceedings become necessary, always prioritising her clients’ best interests.
