About Rebecca
Rebecca Burdon Legal & Consulting is a law practice committed to guiding clients through the complexities of the justice system with knowledgeable and professional representation. Rebecca Burdon, the Founder and Principal Solicitor, brings extensive experience gained from a lengthy career at one of Victoria’s largest criminal law practices. Throughout her career, she has appeared across all Victorian criminal law jurisdictions, handling a broad range of matters including driving offences, property and assault offences, breach of intervention orders, dishonesty, and serious charges such as murder. Her approach is client-focused and results-driven, reflecting a strong commitment to ensuring access to justice and achieving the best possible outcomes for those she represents. Rebecca’s professional background also encompasses public sector roles in anti-corruption, regulation, and law enforcement. In these positions, she managed complex cases and prosecutions, assisted with investigations into public sector corruption and police misconduct, and acted as counsel assisting commissions of inquiry in coercive private examinations and high-profile public hearings. She has substantial experience appearing before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Supreme Court in matters involving Telecommunication Intercept and Surveillance Device warrants. Prior to her legal career, Rebecca worked extensively as a social worker within the Victorian mental health system, advocating for involuntary patients under the Mental Health Act 1986. Her clinical expertise in this area enriches her legal practice by allowing a nuanced and pragmatic approach that is both authentic and empathetic when working with clients. Rebecca is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Social Security Rights Victoria, which provides free legal information and assistance on social security issues. She also contributes her expertise as a board member of Genwest, an organisation dedicated to promoting gender equity, supporting those affected by family violence, and advocating for safe and healthy communities.
