About Jamie

Jamie Miller has been advising insurers in litigation since his admission as a solicitor in September 1988. His practice encompasses compulsory third party (CTP) insurance litigation and general insurance claims, reflecting a broad experience within the insurance sector. Jamie has developed significant expertise in matters involving loss of future earning capacity. Notably, he contributed to the High Court decision in Husher v Husher, which clarified the application of partnership law principles in assessing loss of future earning capacity claims. He is regularly engaged to deliver training and educational seminars to the insurance industry. His sessions cover a range of topics including the assessment of damages for wrongful death, nervous shock claims, and the interpretation of common insurance policy terms, such as the insured’s obligation to take reasonable care. Academically, Jamie holds a Graduate Diploma in Insurance from Deakin University and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws at the University of Queensland. In addition to his studies, he serves as a part-time law tutor at the University. Outside of his legal career, Jamie is actively involved in community service as a surf lifesaver and patrolling member of the Bilinga Surf Life Saving Club.
