Ray Brown

Ray Brown is a prominent leader in the field of migration, steering the Migration Division at PLAYFAIR with unparalleled expertise gained over decades in both governmental and private sectors. His substantial career began with the Australian Department of Immigration, where he held senior roles for 18 years, including significant tenures in Hong Kong and Beijing. This robust public sector foundation propelled him into a successful private sector career. In 1986, Ray transitioned to the corporate world, joining a major international accounting firm to offer specialised migration advice to corporate clients and entrepreneurs aiming to establish operations in Australia. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own consultancy, which later merged with PLAYFAIR, enhancing its capacity to deliver top-tier migration services. Ray's commitment to the migration sector is demonstrated through his leadership roles, notably on the National Executive of the Migration Institute of Australia, where he dedicated many years, including five as National President. His invaluable contributions were recognised with the rare honour of Life Membership in the Institute. Additionally, Ray served as Chair of the Migration Agents Registration Authority and was a member of the OMARA Advisory Board from 2011 to 2015. In recognition of his impactful service to migration, Ray was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001. His deep understanding of migration law, combined with his extensive experience across sectors, positions him as a respected authority in the field.
