About Irene
Irene Pickel has practised as a solicitor since 1980, operating from Bowral in the Southern Highlands. She founded her own firm, now known as Pickel Legal, in 1997. Irene has comprehensive experience in family law, managing matters ranging from straightforward divorces and child support agreements to complex property settlements involving family trusts, overseas assets, and generational farming properties. Her work includes family law issues for married, de facto, and same-sex couples across negotiation, mediation, collaborative practice, and court proceedings. Irene is accredited in family law by the Law Society of NSW, having met stringent professional standards and maintaining ongoing education in the field. She has been actively involved in collaborative law since 2005 and contributed to training professionals in this approach at the University of Technology Sydney. Irene also advises on related legal matters important to families, including wills, powers of attorney, estate planning, conveyancing, and the administration and resolution of disputed estates. She further holds a Master of Applied Law (Family Law) completed in 2012.
