About Us
Phillips & Wilkins is a well-established law firm known for its trusted legal services for over 90 years. Our core practice areas include conveyancing and property law, where we guide clients through the complexities of buying or building their first home, leasing, subdividing, finance arrangements, family breakdowns, and transitioning into aged care facilities. Our team ensures tailored solutions that align with individual circumstances. In the realm of wills and estate planning, we assist clients in drafting valid wills to secure intended asset distribution and minimise estate disputes. Our expertise in commercial law allows us to provide comprehensive advice on business arrangements, including leases, business purchases and sales, partnership agreements, company structures, and trust considerations. Our litigation and dispute resolution services focus on resolving conflicts efficiently, whether they involve family members, neighbours, or business partners. We emphasise avoiding costly court proceedings by seeking fair settlements at early stages. Additionally, our family law services offer practical, cost-effective advice to help clients navigate the breakdown of personal relationships, ensuring the best possible outcomes. When it comes to deceased estates, our experienced team is adept at administering estates with efficiency and compassion, alleviating stress during difficult times. Founded in the interwar years by Alfie O'Connor, the firm was taken over by Norman Phillips in 1946 after his military service. Norman played a significant role in assisting the local Italian and Greek communities during the 1950s and 60s. The partnership with Barry Wilkins in 1966 gave rise to the name Phillips & Wilkins. Over the years, the firm has grown under the leadership of various partners, including Grant Mackenzie and Will Elder, who joined as a partner in 2019. At Phillips & Wilkins, we pride ourselves on longstanding client relationships grounded in trust and high-quality service, a tradition that has been maintained since our founding in Thornbury in 1932.
