Catherine Black is a Principal and Director at Philipoff Legal, where she leads the team handling property transactions, business conveyancing, contract law, as well as matters involving estates, trusts, and commercial law. She graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Diploma in Modern Languages, specialising in German and Italian. Catherine was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2004. Catherine began her legal career at a large national law firm before joining boutique commercial practices in Perth. These firms are well established in key local industries including property, mining, technology, shipping, and agribusiness. Over the years, she has gained extensive transactional experience across commercial property and business matters. Her expertise covers a broad range of areas including property law, contract law, land matters, trusts, superannuation, commercial leasing, wills, estate planning, as well as restructuring and debt recovery more recently. Catherine is also highly experienced in agribusiness transactions and succession planning. Fluent in German and Italian, Catherine is able to assist a diverse client base with nuanced communication. Outside of her legal work, she serves as a Non-Executive Director on a residential retirement village board, reflecting her commitment to supporting older Australians and those in need.
