About Marion
Marion McDougall is a Senior Lawyer with extensive experience in Family Law. Beginning her legal career in Scotland, Marion quickly distinguished herself, becoming one of only three female partners at one of the largest law firms in the country. She was also appointed as a Notary Public and completed a Post Graduate qualification in Forensic Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine at Glasgow University. After relocating to Australia, Marion further enhanced her legal qualifications through studies at Melbourne University and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1990. Marion’s practice encompasses a broad range of family law matters, with particular expertise in handling complex financial cases and sensitive negotiations involving children. She regularly represents clients in proceedings concerning married parties, de facto partners, and same-sex couples. Her experience extends across various courts, including the Magistrates’ Court, Federal Circuit Court, Family Court of Australia, and Children’s Court. Marion is skilled in managing matters such as relocation and child residence disputes, property applications, child support including for tertiary students over 18 years, financial support and spousal maintenance, binding financial agreements, superannuation splitting and agreements, as well as divorce applications. She also advises on issues arising from family breakdowns, such as land transfers, wills, and powers of attorney. Outside of her legal practice, Marion enjoys playing the cello in an amateur orchestra, golfing, and camping—often accompanied by a single malt whisky around an open fire.
