About Us

Patrick Grimes & Co. has been a trusted legal presence in Lane Cove for over five decades, founded by Patrick Grimes, a local who established the practice in 1970 to serve the community where he grew up. The firm has consistently provided legal advice to both businesses and residents throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s, maintaining strong local ties. In 1996, Emma Grimes, Patrick’s daughter and a Lane Cove local herself, joined the firm while studying law. Following Patrick’s stroke in 1998, which ended his legal practice, Michael Fitzgerald, a solicitor admitted to practice in NSW and the High Court of Australia, managed the firm with the Law Society’s consent until Emma obtained her unrestricted practising certificate. Emma formally took over as principal in 2003 and continues to lead the firm today. Patrick Grimes & Co. has operated from its current Longueville Road premises for forty years, proudly maintaining its local roots. Emma and Licensed Conveyancer Peter Louridas work collaboratively to provide clients with personalised service tailored to their needs. In 2016, the firm expanded by taking over Whatmore, Gee & Co. following the retirement of David Todd. The practice offers comprehensive legal services including conveyancing for residential and commercial property transactions, wills and estates, commercial law ranging from small to corporate clients, commercial leasing, debt recovery, and general legal matters affecting the local community.
