Wisam Assi

Wisam Assi is the Principal Lawyer at Optimum Lawyers, bringing a wealth of international legal experience to his practice. He graduated with honours from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom in 1998 and has been admitted to practise law in Israel and New South Wales. Wisam has extensive experience in complex real estate conveyancing, handling residential and commercial transactions, including the sale and purchase of off-the-plan properties and subdivisions. His expertise extends to drafting retail and commercial leases, as well as sophisticated Put & Call Option Agreements and mortgage documentation, representing the interests of both mortgagors and mortgagees. Beyond property law, Wisam is well-versed in general commercial transactions. He regularly advises on joint ventures, share transfers, and business sales, drafting a range of commercial contracts such as shareholders agreements, licensing and maintenance agreements, services contracts, and commission agreements. His civil litigation experience includes drafting pleadings and evidence, with appearances in court. Wisam has a thorough understanding of family law legislation including the Family Law Act, Family Provision Act, and Property Relationships Act. He also prepares wills, powers of attorney, and enduring guardianship documents. Fluent in Arabic and Hebrew, Wisam combines his legal expertise with a commitment to community service, having volunteered as a legal advisor and crisis support worker in Wellington, New Zealand. Prior to his legal career, he also played professional basketball. Wisam holds an LLB with honours from Staffordshire University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in NSW. He is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the High Court of Australia, and as a lawyer of the Israel Bar Association. He is also a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.
